Summer Newsletter
Andi kindly volunteered to edit the newsletter and will liaise with Fran about topics etc. Distributors to be organised at June meeting. !! If anyone has interesting photos of the area, or from last year’s carboot sale, please let Fran know and Andi can include them in the newsletter. !!

Police Update
- No police or PCSOs attended today. Website for Neighbourhood Policing Team: trowbridgecentralnpt@wiltshire.pnn.police.uk
Skittles evening – Held on 2 May at Wesley Road Club – 12 people came and a good time was had by all. We played as individuals rather than as teams and Mary Beer won. We raised £19 from the raffle – everyone had brought a prize and almost everyone won one! Another one will be held in October.

Nara Events
Car Boot Sale in Wesley Road Club car park – this will take place on Sunday 12th July from 13:00h. WE NEED A VOLUNTEER TO ORGANISE THIS PLEASE. Please contact Fran asap if you would care to organise. Thank you. Requires posters to be put up 7-10 days beforehand, (hopefully the newsletter will be delivered during first week of July) someone to control parking (Joan & Eddy volunteered to do this), to collect fees, and someone to make sure all rubbish is collected at the end. Andi suggested a plant swap table, and maybe invite a garden centre to attend with plants as well.

Community Swap evening
Andi suggested that this might be a useful and fun evening – it was decided to perhaps hold one of these in the hour before the Christmas meeting. To be discussed in September.

Front Garden Fiesta
It was agreed that having people initially recommend gardens in their own streets, as we did last year, was a good idea so EVERYONE – during second half of June, please feel free to let me know which gardens are worth looking at . Fran will then go round (anyone want to accompany her?) in early July and select the best 6. Hopefully we can purchase prizes from funds raised at the carboot and present them at the September meeting.

Speakers – oral history series!
John Knight had suggested several people and we are pleased to say that on 25th June, Roy Berrett will be talking about the social effects of the growth and decline of the wool and textile business in Trowbridge and on 21st July, Arthur Hillman will be sharing his recollections about Newtown area pre 1933 and post 1966, when he lived here.

Newtown
Fran rang the Highways Department but asked them ensure the sign in Frome Road was clear to view – which it already is! She will call again to tell them about the hidden sign coming up from Stallard Street and ask for it to be made visible.

Old Rectory
Fran has asked the Parish Steward to see if he can organise clearance of overhanging vegetation on the corner of St George’s Terrace and Newtown by the traffic lights. However, as the plants are on privately owned land, this may not be possible for the Council to do.

Public consultations on parking in Newtown
John advised that Karl Buckingham at TTC is organising this. They will be looking at the single and double yellow lines with a view to removing some and putting others in. We don’t yet know when this will happen.

Training for residents’ associations committees
Selwood Housing will run an informal workshop about what it means to take on the roles of Chair, Secretary, Treasurer. They need to know whether an afternoon or evening session is preferable and how many people would attend. Given Fran’s intention to step down in September, this is an excellent opportunity for members to find out how it all works and to think about standing for Chair and Secretary at the next AGM. Please let Fran know asap if you would like to attend this workshop.
