NARA Activities

Car Boot Sale
10 Vendors raising £30 for kitty: Very few buyers – probably due to lack of or poor advertising, kids pinched posters too so not as successful as it could have been. Stayed dry though.

The Big Lunch – Sunday 19 July
Did not really happen in Newtown.

West Wilts Show – Sat 25 July
Really in need of two or three people to cover lunch breaks between 12 noon and 3pm on Friday and Saturday. Chalice has offered to do one hour on Saturday.

Front Garden Fiesta
Several homes have been short listed but Fran will go around again at the end of the month to take another look. Please forward the addresses of any prize-worthy gardens to Fran ASAP. Fran will then tour the area and identify the winners will be narrowed down to six and a prize of £10 Palmer Garden Centre vouchers will go to each of them taken from the proceeds from the boot sale.

Speakers

Arthur Hillman (99) shared his recollections of Newtown, A very pleasant and interesting presentation.

Community Swap evening
To be discussed in September.

NARA committee
Fran once again re-iterated that she will stand down as chair in September. Claudia will continue to stand as treasurer but is not going to act as chair. Andi Caswell is happy to be secretary but can’t always attend meetings. She would be happy to type up the minutes afterwards.
NARA still needs a permanent chair person – please do consider taking up this position.
If no one is prepared to offer their services. NARA WILL FOLD. Fran will provide a thorough hand-over, and training can be arranged through Selwood Housing.

Carnival Float
Please telephone Andi on 350262 if you are interested in some hands on work to decorate a small lorry for the Carnival. The theme for the float is Children’s TV characters. Any ideas or materials that might be borrowed too please; Banners painted or stitched onto sheets for the sides of the truck with NARA etc – fabric has been donated, now need hands. Please email ideas to andiz@blueyonder.co.uk – also looking for children’s TV music themes as MP3’s
